MVO/MVS method Often we can hear someone saying: "Oh, you speak well our language" or "It seems that nowadays nobody is able to write and use the language correctly". It means that there is a real problem: how can we appraise the Italian knowledge of everyone? In this last few years we have seen that we need to find some principles, based on the experimental and scientific method, not only on a simple teaching opinion. Therefore we planned a research, divided into phases, that allowed us to determine 22 linguistic functions. By means of these functions, now we are able to plot a graph for each individual and to appraise his communication competences according to a scale of defined values. Our research is going on and now we have just entered the phase of gathering the valuations, in order to improve the statistical reference and the systematic method.
